Sadly Lisa lost her battle for life on 27th November at 1.00am aged 24. Lisa's journey with cancer was like a roller coaster. After the various operations and chemo treatments we were full of hope. Lisa showed outstanding courage and always put others first, on various hospital vistits I would find Lisa's room empty, she would be sitting with other patients helping them.

Lisa leaves her husband Martin and daughter Emily 2. Lisa was surrounded by love from her family, with Martin looking after her 24/7 untill the end. Lisa & Martin were like ying & yang they went together so well bringing out the best in each other. Love goes beyond life and death.

I would like to pay tribute to the Karen Ball Fund who are a small charity in Rutland. The Karen Ball Fund funded some of Lisa's private drug treatment

Love you always Dad xxxx

This page is dedicated to the memory of Lisa Louise Hoddy and other family members of our club membership who have lost their battle to cancer.

On a personal note the spirit that Lisa had was outstanding. How she faced each day with knowledge that she was going to leave her baby daughter Emily, husband Martin and a loving family is beyond comprehension. I can only imagine what was going through her mind when she looked at Emily.

To friends, on behalf of my family I would like to give you my heart felt thanks for the lovely floral tributes and cards that you sent for Lisa’s funeral service.

When I stood to give my address I realised that there were around two hundred people attending the service, although this was a very sad occasion the church was full of love and warmth which showed how many hearts Lisa touched with her kindness in her short life.

Footprints in the Sand - The Poem

by Mary Stevenson

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,

it was then that I carried you."

This song expresses my feelings for Lisa
